Shane's Bio -

Shane Ott  shane ott fighter  shane ott
I met Shane Ott back in 1990 when he would come in to Skip’s Tattoo  shop on Heister’s Lane in Reading, Pa. Tracy Glisson and I were tattooing for Skip in that tiny little closet of a shop where  Shane would get  tattooed and hang out and he became good friends with us. Shane started tattooing in early ’91 and excelled in the art, working professionally for Skip in the 5th  St. shop. From time to time Shane, Tracy and myself stood shoulder to shoulder in quite a few street fights and bar brawls. Shane’s loyalty, guts , quick thinking and tough street sense made him a valued friend to have backing you up.  Weekends brought the occasional Punk show or Hardcore show and Bike events, where Shane and all of our buddies would have a good time. Shane grew up in a biker family and rode for as long as I’ve known him. He participated in the A.B.A.T.E. bike gigs and the RMC party every July.  He is an avid hunter, and though I only went small game hunting with him, I know of him to be quite the deer hunter. Whether Shane was interested in Tattoos, Bikes, Cars, Guns, fighting or whatever, he has always approached these interests with true dedication.
The dedication and love Shane has for his children are unsurpassed. He has spoken of Alexis, Alston, and Riley many times with great pride, I definitely see the softer side of Shane whenever he speaks of his children. A lot of folks know the tough side of Shane, the High School wrestler turned Street fighter turned Pro Fighter. The Love of Fitness and Fighting brought Shane to the Professional Fighter world. In the mid 90’s I remember his entrance in the Tough Man Competition and fighting several bouts. I was there for his Amateur fights and his pro fights held mostly in PA and New Jersey. He also had professional fights in Chicago, Ohio and Las Vegas. As a Pro fighter He trained with guys from Northern Fist Southern Cross, Anthracite Combat Club, The International Fight League and many more. He has had many victories and many compliments but one stood out in my memory. Famous Pro Fighter Bas Ruten said “All that guy needs is bolts on his neck!” when seeing Shane fight in Vegas.  We all know Shane Ott as a fighter and right now Shane is fighting the toughest fight of his life. On November 2nd 2008 Shane was critically injured in a motorcycle accident. He has endured hours and hours of surgery and many blood transfusions. While still unconscious Shane is showing signs of fighting to come out of the coma. This is the fighter that we all know and love. Now Shane needs us, that is why we are asking for your help in making our benefit fundraiser work for him.

                                                                   Sincerely,
                                                                   Chris Haas

Questions and Answers

Q: What is "The Shane Ott Care Fund"?
A: It is a Trust Fund set up to help Shane get back to a normal life. To help him adjust and to cover any Rehabilitation and any medical items needed.

Q: Who controls this Fund? Is the money really going to get to him?
A: Citizens Bank controls the Fund and holds the money. Shane's parents are custodians and they will call the bank whenever Shane has a medical need. The bank pays the Medical Provider, etc. Yes, these funds are going to help Shane where he needs it most.

Q: How can I donate money?
A: You can walk into any Citizens Bank and tell them you want to donate to "The Shane Ott Care Fund".

Q: There have been rumors of cash jars at bars around Reading, Is this a legitimate way of donating?
A: Yes and No. I think raising money any way necessary for Shane is a good thing, but there have been rumors of these jars being placed and emptied by unknown persons who may be pocketing the money. That's the thing about cash, it is easy for cash to be lost or stolen, especially in a Bar environment where someone can take money left in a jar and no one notices. I commend the people trying to help Shane. It just may not be the safest way to get the money to Shane and his Parents. Now Shane worked at Reading Tattoo for years , you can donate money there. Tracy will just take the money to a Citizens Bank and deposit it. Reading Tattoo is located at 1419 North 5th Street Highway Reading , Pa. 19601.  At Paradise Lost where Shane worked for the last couple years we are also collecting money for Shane. We write down the amount donated and the person signs their name to the slip. We tape it up on our vault door. All of this money is deposited into Shane's Care Fund. People have mailed checks and money orders to our shop . If you want to do this just write out the check or money order to "the Shane Ott Care Fund" mail it to any citizens bank or mail it to Paradise Lost 211 west main st. Kutztown,Pa. 19530. We will deposit the check at Citizens Bank for you.

Q: I am going to miss one of the events. I can't donate Blood for whatever reason. What can I do?
A: If you miss one event , we are going to have more positive events to help raise money for Shane. Also you can make a donation at any time. If you are out of town during the blood drive, call them and schedule an appointment- tell them you want to donate blood for Shane Ott. If you can't donate blood for a specific reason, that's Ok , there are other ways to help.
